When I press an image in an item a box pops up so I (supposedly) can see it better, but it's still too small. How can I increase the size of the preview images?

Check the size of the XL image in the general K2 parameters.

Ok, I just tried that but it seems not to work. I changed the XL size in the parameters from 900 to 10,000, I also changed L from 600 to 10,000 just in case; but when I checked in the front end, after refreshing, the preview image size was exactly the same. What can the problem be? What can I do?

The images in the popup resizes according to the browser window also. Maybe that is the case.

I have struggled with this very thing as well and finally figured it out (at least I think I have)  Thank you Yiota for providing some direction here as well.

First, Yiota is correct in looking at the XL image in the general K2 parameters.  When you upload a photo to a K2 item it is placed in /media/K2/items/cache.  I decided to delete all these cache files but found out that I lost ALL my pictures that were being displayed on my website.  Once a restored things, I proceeded to do the following:


I located the photo that was the wrong size by right clicking.
I deleted the image from the /media/K2/items/cache directory.
I ensured that the XL image in the general K2 parameters was set to the desired pop-up window size.
I uploaded my new pictures in the K2 article.

 

With that all said, I've finally determined that I need to do the following when setting up a new website.


Set-up the K2 Parameters - image sizes etc BEFORE adding any photos.  Ensure you set the XL image size to what you want.
*** NOTE: if you want a different size in one of your categories, do this BEFORE you upload any pictures. This is accomplished by setting the IMAGE OPTIONS under the K2 Category. It appears that once the image is stored in the CACHE, you're stuck with original image.
Size all the photos you want to upload to the XL size.

 

I hope this helps.  I know for sure that my next website is going to be much easier.

One More Thing.

Note that when you upload an image, an image is placed in the cache for EVERY SIZE of image available in K2.  In other words, the image is re-sized in XS through to XL.

Therefore, it is imperative that you optimize your image size BEFORE uploading or you'll find it a drain on your resources.  You can set this up in the General K2 Parameters as well.

I know this is going to save me a tonne of time from here on.
