I would like to know if it is possible to have an extra field which gets filled in by my client back end but that we dont want to display front end....ie for an art gallery where he needs  a field to be for 'shelf location'...great reference for him but data we wouldn't want to show the general public.

 

Is this possible?

This would be very similar to hiding an extra field if empty 

Find the block of code in item and or category php that displays the extra fields (for each loop)

and insert an if not statement to test for this - > extrafield - > name = "yourextrafieldname"
