Category / Item list Empty was created by Ben Wake
Hi there!

I've recently updated J! to J! 3.5.0 and also updated K2 (and reinstalled) in order to try and solve this issue.

I can add items and categories (and presumably other things such as tags etc) without issue, however when I return to the Item or Category list it simply returns an empty list? I've checked the db and can see that the category and items I have created are there.

I can't see anything obvious which would indicate a problem. I've also run the database fix tool from J! to ensure everything is as it should be!

Any ideas would be appreciated!

J! 3.5.0
K2 2.7.0

Cheers folks!
Ben

Can you try repairing K2's tables.
If there is a spike in traffic, sometimes the DB's tables might lock.

Hi Krikor,

Thanks for the reply. I would have replied yesterday however I have just discovered that there are no reply options displayed when using Chrome (Version 49.0.2623.110 m), this also appears to be an issue with K2, when viewing and editing in Firefox (v 44.0.2) I am able to see the item and category list, as well as the options to reply on this forum.

As an additional piece of information, no errors are displayed in the console provided by Chrome, which makes this all the more tricky to trace!

Thanks,
Ben

Hello Ben,

Is any markup there (HTML present but hidden), or is there nothing rendered?

Are you using any weird Chrome extensions?

Hi Krikor,

I've just disabled all browser extensions and unfortunately, that hasn't solved the problem, it looks like that there is no HTML being rendered, this appears to be limited to my work machine at the moment.

Happily, I am able to now reply to the forum via the same chrome install on my work machine, previously I was unable to.

I've included a screenshot of the difference that I am seeing - I've checked the source code in both browsers can I can confirm that the list is definitely not available in the source rendered by chrome.

imgur.com/KeAwOx3 (screenshot).

Also, as I've mentioned previously, there are no errors being displayed in the browser console.

In addition to this, I can also say that when creating a menu item to a K2 item, the item list is not displayed there either, presumably it uses the same codebase for this list? Again, this works in FF.

Thanks,
Ben

Hurrah! It's always the simple things.

Numerous times I've tried that and it wouldn't play along! Thankfully, it is now.

As a note to this, I've tested this on 3 different machines, using 3 different versions of Chrome though all are vanilla installs and each one has had this issue, at least to begin with. My machine at home. for lack of a better phrase, 'just started working', so there is definitely an issue with Chrome somewhere, even more odd, is the fact that I have another joomla site with the exact same setup (version numbers etc), which has never displayed this issue in any browser!

I guess there is always one!

Thanks for the help, let's hope it continues to play nicely!
