I recently installed K2 but then uninstalled it for Joomla 3.6 since I was unprepared to learn all it's (great-looking) features during site rollout. I'll eventually use it after current site bugs are worked out.

I was using Joomla's SEF URLs and noticed that K2 had inserted the numerical Article IDs as prefix into my previously-clean page URLs and the Article IDs remain after uninstalling K2.

Is there some setting that I missed so I can remove the Article IDs from the URLs?

Hi PB, that's easy :
Go to K2 parameters, choose "Advanced" Tab.
Down to "Advanced SEF Settings" and choose "No" for "Use the item ID in the URL".
But be careful with that option. As said in the warning message :

If you choose not to use the item ID in your URLs, please understand the following: a) For every K2 item link generated on a Joomla! page there is an additional query to the database (performance hit) and b) items with the same 'title alias' will conflict in your site's structure (only one of them will always display). This setting can safely be used on sites with a few dozens items max, where you probably know the alias for every K2 item.

I wonder if K2 will change this approach with Joomla 3.7 : it will get cleaner URLs, no longer ID's in the URL.

Excellent, thank you. I admit that I was a bit overwhelmed after I installed K2 and got confused by all it could do. I'll have to check into what a 'K2 Item' actually is; I presume it doesn't mean articles, as I have more than a few dozen of those.
