Social Connect vs Joomla registration was created by Chris Good
Hi,

I've just bought Social Connect and have sorted out the login for Facebook and Twitter. I have (most importantly) enabled user registration in Global Configurations, which then made the Registration option appear on SocialConnect's default page. However, the registration only shows the horrible joomla registration...I would like it to be (only) social registration options...but these aren't turning up at all?

Can someone please help? I assume I have a configuration issue.

Hello there,

I am assuming you have the menu item pointing at Joomla!'s registration.
You need to have that menu item point at SC's component view.

Hello there,

Sorry, it's Chris Good, but I think I registered under a new name when testing out social connect on this site, :/ whoops...but it worked a treat.

Okay, yes, you're correct, the menu item did point to the SC menu item that was offered...I also turned ON joomla registration in Global Configuration, until which the social buttons didn't work for registration, and the joomla form didn't show up on the bottom of the SC page.

When I used it on this site, the joomla form is featured on the bottom, but the pretty social buttons were responsible for registration and sign in. So they do both? All is on offer, for those that don't want to use the social log in, I guess?

Will that Joomla! registration add the users to K2 groups? If so, everyone can do anything, so, I just have to style the form nicely, I suppose.

This more of an if/else solution. You can use social media to login or you can use Joomla!'s registration. A user is created and stored so it is equivalent of the registration.

Also since K2's plugin is running the user will be assigned to the correct K2 user group.

Thank you. I think I'm really happy with that. It's working really well and looks great.

I cannot, however, get the Facebook working...Twitter was a breeze, but I get this with a Facebook login:

URL Blocked: This redirect failed because the redirect URI is not whitelisted in the app’s Client OAuth Settings. Make sure Client and Web OAuth Login are on and add all your app domains as Valid OAuth Redirect URIs.

I've read documentation -and in facebook, it's something to do with the redirect URL, apparently, but I've entered it correctly.

I know it's a shot in the dark, but any thoughts, please?

I'm really sorry to keep adding questions....and if I should be starting a new topic, please give me a kick...

...but the Facebook problem is not an issue with the Facebook app configuration. It just doesn't work in Firefox or Safari...it's perfect in Chrome.

I really can't say I'd have any idea why this would be, but it's not my app configuration.

Your help would be appreciated, I think Social Connect is awesome, I just want to get it working!

Kindest,

Chris

Since this requires a more hands-on approach please open a ticket in the helpdesk so we can sort this out.
Also please include a link to the site and Super User access.
