K2 Creating New Title alias (URL) was created by Scott Oman
Dear K2 Developers and Community,

Occasionally K2 will create new title aliases because it claims there is a duplicate after saving an item.

As I'm writing some redirects, I am being forced to redirect to (for instance) my-site/example-3 instead of my-site/example.

This is something I would like to avoid.

Where can I track down and delete these duplicate aliases so that I only have one?

How can I stop this from occurring after I save an item?

Thanks,

Scott

Hello Scott,
This is a precaution since people use K2 Advanced SEF settings which in this case it will break your site (duplicate aliases)

Since you know your way around, I would look into the db for these aliases.

Thanks, Krikor.

May I ask what the best course of action is in this regard?

For instance, let's say I have a url with 2-3 duplicate aliases in the database.

www.mysite.com/example
www.mysite.com/example-1
www.mysite.com/example-2

Since the item with the highest number alias is current, and I don't want to accidentally delete anything, would it be best to first delete the following 2 entries:
www.mysite.com/example
www.mysite.com/example-1

And then change the last one (www.mysite.com/example-2) back to the original alias (www.mysite.com/example)?

I wouldn't know.
I never delete items, but if your content does not suffer from this action, I would do the following.

a) Backup :)
b) Opt in for the second solution but I would unpublish these items (if possible).
