New user, a couple questions was created by Gabriele
Hi, I have updated an old website (a news portal) to Joomla v.3.9 and installed a new template using K2 plugins.

I have imported all the old content into K2, but:

1) it fails to load images into slideshows (I've tried a couple, currently SJ Grid Slider for K2

2) Ho the client should operate from now on? He should insert articles into K2 directly?

3) In home page main content, it seems I have the articles loaded from the Joomla Articles, not from K2 Items. Should the user enter them twice?

Thanks in advance.

I've somewhat solved the above points.
I've set Home as: K2 » Item listings » Categories
So client can just ignore Joomla Articles and use K2 Items instead, correct?
But I'm unable to properly configure the page as MANY fields are grayed out and not editable.
For example: Leading count, and Columns for leading; Primary count and Columns for primary; and so on...
I'm also unable to change current settings for Pagination and RSS fields...

Any help would be appreciated.

Correct. K2 is a Joomla Content replacement. And it's much nicer to work with compared to Joomla articles.

So you just work in K2 and create menu items pointing to K2 content.

As for the menu example you provided, you're linking to a single category in K2. When you do that, K2 will fetch the display properties from the K2 category. Unlike Joomla content, K2 follows a more natural approach to category parameters and inheritance.

On the other hard, if you created a menu item pointing to multiple categories, the greyed out fields would be enabled so you can have a uniform layout from items coming from different categories. Imagine a content section that is a 2-column grid and a blog that is a 1-column grid. If you wanted to fetch items from both of these categories, mashed together, you need to redefine the display grid. Everything else comes for each K2 category setting (e.g. whether the K2 image will be shown or not).

Thank you for your reply.
I'm experiencing another issue: if I try to add an image to an item via the "Browse server" button, I get a blank pop-up with just the copyright info of K2.

There's something I can fix?

Keep in mind that the image folder of Joomla (from which I imported images) contains near 4000 images in the root only. Thic could be the issue? i.e. "Browser server" is not broken, just extremely solw.

In case, there's some way to fix this other than manually move images in sub-dirs?

Thank you.

Parsing thousands of files could cause the server to reach some limits, in which case PHP would just throw a blank page. Set error reporting to "maximum" in Joomla's Global Configuration and check again. If you see an error, let me know.

Update to K2 v2.10 (dev) from github.com/getk2/k2/archive/master.zip and check if the error still occurs.
