When I upgrade AllVideos from version 4.7.0 to 4.8.0 on my Joomla! 3.8.1 site, the MP3 player does not display properly. All I see is a black box. If I set the height high enough the black box will show a gray triangle "play" icon. Clicking the icon does play the audio. I found a posting that seemed to describe the same issue (www.joomlaworks.net/forum/allvideos/47876-no-player-for-local-audio-files) but that fix did not solve the problem.

Any thoughts on how to fix the issue?

Inspect the black box with your browzer tools and see the filename it is pointing to.
Is the filename there correct? If not change it in the tag and this may get it playing.

The file does play, but the controls are unavailable and the site visitors won't know that it's an MP3 player.

Now its time to look at the plugin audio player settings and use the inspection tool to check the css to see what makes it do what you want it to
Also, searching the forum for format audio player may yeild answers

Hmmm... Its working now. I'm not sure if there was some kind of caching issue or if an update to another component cleared up the issue. I'm hesitant to upgrade my production site until I can figure out what happened. I'll do some more testing.

Keep an eye on your browser developer tools' console tab.
JavaScript errors can break several components.

I'm not sure to understand what you means with 'Posters".
If it is recorded pictures linked to recorded sound traks, the answer is No.
and the sound tracks has been provided by the artist herself.

For the record, I'm still having issues on my site. I haven't had much time to work on this, but I was not able to replicate the fix that appeared on it's own. I hope to devote some time to troubleshoot this in a couple of weeks. I hope to provide some useful information fairly soon.

Can you try temporarily disabling Widgekit?

Hello Krikor, Yes, an old version of widgetkit was enabled, and I see that I do not need it.
So I disabled all widgetkit extensions (I do not yet uninstalled it).
But it changes nothing. Now, if you try, you should see nothing about widget kit and the issue still remains.

Can you also trying setting a value like 36 or 48?

Default width (in px) for audio player is set to 190 and height to 30.
But this parameter does not seems to influence the black big display.

Hello, I have the same problem after update. It seems it's because the player is made now to display an image like showned in the documentation.
But how to do if I don't use image ?
There is a little arrow to start the player. But too little. I see with Inspector that its height is 25% ... and the height of the box is 24px.
With Inspector I see that it's the div player-poster. If I get 100% as height, the arrow is ok. But how can I change it ? The name of the page is interviews. So the Inspector shows as css file : http://name-of-website/index.php/interviews:607.
I don't find where it is.

The player itself is displayed only after clicking on the arrow. And only if the cursor is hover the box. There is an animation (hidden or not). I don't find the file where it's configurated.
I don't need this animation, just to have the player displayed in the box.

You're right Camille. It is a general bug and the post says that the present way to correct it is to install previous version 4.7.0 instead of 4.8.0 to be uninstalled. That's what I have done and alas, now all seems right on my page.

I keep in touch with this post until I can see that a bugfix has been found. Go one allvideo, you make a good job, don't stop on this bug you will fix.

The height can be controlled from the plugin's settings. You can try increasing to a value of 36- 48 instead of 24.
The inline styling you are seeing in the inspector are hardcoded from Clappr's scripts.

I have the same problem. Hugues, where did you get the 4.7 version from? I also want to downgrade.
