I am not getting AllVideos to display the .mov (quick player file). The movie shows its playing because you see the progress bar moving, but there is no picture showing and no sound. The folders have the right permissions set and from what I can tell I have set Allvideos folder location for the vides correctly using the paramter console in the plugin extension manager. Please see image of the blank black screen that is presented. Can someone please help me?

Please provide me with a link to your site... However, you probably have a problem with the selected video and not with the plugin.

What is the path for your local video folder in the plugins settings?
Is it written like this?
images/stories/videos

Because it should be...

I have had it configured exactly as you have it written so I do not believe that is the problem. Please see attached screen shot of my plugin configuration

Katia,

Were you able to identify the problem? Or is there someone else out there that might be able to help me solve the problem as I have described?

Did you solve it(?) because I can see the video displays fine...
However, I suggest you to install the latest AllVideos version 3.1.

Hi Katia,

Thanks for responding to my inquiries. Sorry I am only now responding back to your last response. I think the problem has to do with how your component handles Apple mov files. Your component works good for windows based files such as Windows Media Player wav files.

I did update to the 3.1 version as you have suggested. However the upgrade did not change the outcome of the MAC wav file.

I've got the same problem with a mp4 file.  The video is loading and the sound works but the video screen is all black.  Here is a link to the video

Here is the code I have in the module.
{mp4remote}www.ownyourchannel.com/media/video/howtoregisternewmember.mp4{/mp4remote}

I have the file on the same server but I can't seem to get the {mp4} option to find the file.  It's in a directory off the root: media/video  I don't know but maybe it has something to do with the fact that my website is in a sub-directory.

By The Way: I using the 3.1 of AllVideos.

I had to get it up and running so I converted the mp4 to a wmv and it works.  I think there is a problem with your QuickTime port.

thanks for this discussion. i'm having the same issue with .mov and .mp4 videos. flv and swf videos are working fine. i'm using Allvideos 3.1. i experience the same problem with ie, firefox, safari and chrome. i've tested the .mov and .mp4 files in my QT player and it plays fine...

See iafr.org/resources/presentations/holdon

anyone figure out a fix?

you might notice that i'm also having trouble with my drop-down menus falling behind the allvideos player...i'm looking into other discussion groups for that fix.

same problem here.  I did just have the mov file posted sans plugins and it was playing fine but one had to click on the box to make it start/stop so I tried to use this plugin so it looked more professional and had a real controller.

now I have this same problem of the box shows and the controller and the sound plays but no video shows.

p.s.  I see another thread about this at joomlacode:

I have found that a PC with Quicktime 7.5 plays all filetypes fine with allvideos with no problems.  That's for pre-3.0 and the latest 3.1 AllVideos.  However my personal tower (xp pro) and laptop (vista64) have both been updated to Quicktime 7.6.4 recently.  And any file that attempts to play using Quicktime 7.6.4 with the allvideos plugin in IE (8.0), Firefox (3.0.14), or Safari (4.0.3) on these machines has audio but no video.  Something has changed with the latest release of Quicktime.  This has been a known issue for several weeks now.  Can the developers please update us as to the status of this issue.  Is a fix/update being actively developed?  I'm not trying to be pushy or rude.  Please accept my apologies if it seems that way.  The developers have graciously provided this plugin to us for free.  And thank you for doing so.  I'm just hoping a fix is on the way, otherwise I'll be forced to implement some other plugin/solution or transcode all my videos from .mov or .mp4 to flv or other format.  Quicktime updates automatically on most machines, so the longer this issue is out there, the more browsers that can't play the files.  Thank you for your assistance.

well I see everybody gets asked what's the url and I could give it to you but I am pretty sure form these threads that it is not a matter of my settings or whatever.  from what I can see delmoux probably has the right answer as my xp pro tower did just update quicktime recently.  I wondered why every time you looked at a page katia your answer is you see the videos fine but all of use are having this same problem.

I think delmoux must be correct and if we all posted anything it should probably be our OS and installed QT version (mine is now 7.6.4).  I just viewed the help file associated with it on my pc and see it says XP-SP3 is required which I do not have installed.  I am on SP2 XP.  I don't know if that has anything to do with anything or not.

I've disabled until we get some word back.  I bet a lot of people have xp and this new version of qt.  I truly appreciate the free nature of the plugin but if not working right on such a widely used os - is no good.   :(
