Display video in pop-up window.

I have a request, although maybe its already a feature that I dont know about. I'd like to be able to simply link to the video from the content item and for the video to then appear in a small new window without navigation controls.
The reason is the youtube video that appears in the content doesnt look great when centered in the middle of a big window in my site.
I know I could probably create separate html pages with the video embedded and link to it, but it would be nice to be able to make that window appear without having to create content outside the context of joomla CMS. (Less work for the admin)
Any pointers? Thanks in advance.

Should we go for a lightbox-like or plain ol' javascript popup??

Personaly I think a javascript popup does the job and so long as the window dimensions fit tightly around the video's dimensions then its just fine.
Of course a lightbox could be more pleasing to the eye for some people.
In a perfect world, both and make it an option hehe :)
Oh, and maybe I should put this on a new thread because its a different problem, but, is there a way to align the player (both for youtube and other media like mp3) to the left rather than always centered? Being able wo wrap text around them like one dies with a mos_image would be great.

Step 1: Copy the next url:
http://www.regidores.com/mambots/content/plugin_jw_allvideos/jw_allvideos_player.swf?file=http://www.regidores.com/video/spot_patrullas.flv&showdigits=true&autostart=false
Step 2: Change the information on "yoursite" (put your site) and put your video file location, and the video file name.
e.g.
http://www.yoursite.com/mambots/content/plugin_jw_allvideos/jw_allvideos_player.swf?file=http://www.yoursite.com/video_location/your_video_file_name.flv&showdigits=true&autostart=false
Step 3: Copy all your url.
Go to your editor (in Joomla administrator), write some ting like: "My Video", go to insert link on your editor, go to Popup, activate "Popop java script" button, put the url that you copied on the respective area, next put the widht and height parameters, and insert, and save. Go to your content item and Eureka!!!!
Watch my popup link video on my site:
www.regidores.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1704
P.D.: This is the images to your insert link in your Joomla editor:

An easy way for to play video in a new little windows (in Joomla) is the next:
Step 1: Copy the next url:
http://www.regidores.com/mambots/content/plugin_jw_allvideos/jw_allvideos_player.swf?file=http://www.regidores.com/video/spot_patrullas.flv&showdigits=true&autostart=false
Step 2: Change the information on "yoursite" (put your site) and put your video file location, and the video file name.
e.g.http://www.yoursite.com/mambots/content/plugin_jw_allvideos/jw_allvideos_player.swf?file=http://www.yoursite.com/video_location/your_video_file_name.flv&showdigits=true&autostart=false
Not able to get this to work. any suggestions, or a built in way to do this. would be nice if i could just call a class called popup.

this could be accomplished in parameters for the media. one could specify lightbox or Javascript.

Everyone says how simple it is but no one has spelled out in plain English (from beginning to end) exactly how to stream AND embed video - I have allvideo reloaded installed. If you can only explain one...make it embed please...maybe someone else can help me with streaming.
I see tutes that say just put in (wmv)images/whatever/video(/wmv)... BUT where???
I am guessed out.
Am I supposed to see the player somewhere prior to all of this after I have enabled it???
Would be nice to help me think that i was on the right track
I just dont get it and I am exasperated. ??? :'(
Could someone pretend that I am Helen Keller and just (EXACTLY) spell it out for me!?!?!?
[move]I would pay at this point.[/move]

Now you set inside the plugin's parameters the local path (if you want to load from a site's folder, for instance images/stories/folder name) for the videos and audio as well as all other parameters for dimensions of the player, background color, etc.
After you save the parameters you go and create an article and put inside that the appropriate video tag. Then you go and create a link to that article and you will see the video loading to that page.
I hope I helped you sort it out :)

If not, is there a "stop-gap" solution I can use until that feature is added to AV or AVR?
