How to remove /item/ from urls? was created by kenny
I used K2 and joomla1.7 to create website. When i turned on SEF,it generated the urls as mysite.com/dir1/dir2/(dir3)/item/xxxx .There are 3 or 4 directory in urls with are not friendly for Search Engine. So I want to remove /item/ from urls.
For example:
nanadeals.com/accessories-apparel/jewelry/item/3-05ct-black-diamond-ropework-right-hand-ring-only-99-with-discount-code
to
nanadeals.com/accessories-apparel/jewelry/3-05ct-black-diamond-ropework-right-hand-ring-only-99-with-discount-code
BTW:I wouldn't like to use SEF extensions, they didn't run well at multilanguage website.
Could anyone tell me how to do?please help.
Many thanks!!

I also am new to K2 and wish to remove item and category from the path.
Google has indexed hundreds of my pages with www.domain/myarticle but since I have installed K2 and imported all my articles, they now have a path of www.domain/category/item/myarticle. This means all my listed pages in google or inbound links are now wrong, and also, I dont like it from an SEO point of view. How can I get back to my origional joomla 1.7.3 settings with seo
Can anyone tell me how to remove category and item from the path?

I believe this can be achieved by using SH404sef component, because there is a setting for it in K2 Parameters -> Advanced -> Under SEO

I wouldn't be able to advise on that, but if you want to rewrite the sef - ask in joomla forums, maybe they can help you better.

Thanks for the reply Kannan, but selecting the 'No Categories' in the dropdown or 'all categories' etc does not make any difference. Maybe its because I have stock joomla seo rewrite urls etc turned on, but I need that for all other none K2 modules to have correct paths.
I would appreciate anyone who can help remove category and item from my paths,
Oh and I forgot to say Ive notice and item number appearing before my articles alias title, that needs to be removed too..
It seems that quite a few people that have built sites and then installed K2 are having this problem without any solution..
