how to change the layout of my front page was created by Alistair Kent
My home page - 79.170.44.122/lifenet.org.uk/ - uses the K2 category menu link to populate the content area. I've eventaully got everything working, but want to close the gaps between the end of the text and the read more link. And also the vertical gap between the articles. I've closed this up sligtly, but can't see where to tae anymore space from.Anyone have any ideas?I'm using 2.2.

Have a look to this css classes and properties:

Padding on latestItemBody
Padding on latestItemIntroText
Margin on latestItemIntroText p

Hope this will be a start point...

It is to do with you have 3x
.
In your item, check the source/HTML, in case you have any extra
in there. Check that first as the other route takes extra digging.

Thansk for the reply...

What do you mean exactly by it being to do with having '3x'? three of something? if so, what?

I've checked the source code of the articles and they all look clean, just text, P tags and a read more link.

I think the problem is to do with the articles or teh menu link in some way, as:

a) there is no extra unwanted paddinfg at the bottom of the lower two articles.
b) I've just switched the articles round (by drag and dropping the categories in the menu link parameters, and teh vertical gap has closed somewhat.

Thanks for this. Had a look and took 8px of the latest Item Body styling. It's a start!

Incidentally, couldn't see a 'latestItemIntroText p' style (searched, but nothing cane up). Found the one with the 'p' though.

I am trying to say that you can reduce few pixels more adding html p tag to the class latestItemIntroText and set new margin.

But anyway, have you modified the template latest.php or latest_item.php????

Changing the latestItemIntroText p doesn't affect the large vertical gaps as they are not the first or element, they only affect the spacing between the image and text and then the text and read more link.

I have just viewed the page in Google Chrome and the space is even bigger, probably triple the size it is in FF.

I know it doesnt affect on items spacing because doing that you just adjust de html p tag to have less margin, so you can reduce some pixels.

You didnt answer about de latest templates. Had you modified it??

Does anybody know if negative values will have a reverse effect?

For example 'padding:5px' will add 5 pixels of spacing. Would the following reduce the spacing? padding:-5px Is this valid in css?

I don't think changing the paddings or margins will help that much. Perhaps a little. Ultimately we need to control the spacing between paragraphs. Is this even possible?

I personally think this is crazy... having to spend so much time trying to change something that should be so very easy. I've been trying the same thing for days and days now.

Mr. Kent, please post your fix here if you figure it all out.
