Hi Doug,

I'm having the same issue. I use K2 with JoomSEF and recently, while working on the K2 category template, I went on to Tools>Clean Cache so I could see the changes. But after that, every link on the pages goes to a 500 error. However, on refreshing the error page, the article page loads up fine.

PLEASE tell me how did you fix your problem? I really need to know urgently.

Thank you very much in advance.

Dave,

I had a backup (30days old but...) and reinstalled everything.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Do you use akeeba backup.. could you guide me on how to got it back running?

And since we're a news portal, since our last backup, we've had over 50-60 new articles. Is it possible if I:

1) Find a way to export all K2 articles

2) Then reinstall/revert to the previous working backup

3) Then re-import articles from step 1 into K2 again?

Would really appreciate you taking time to give me your advice.

Dave,

I'm no pro here but what you suggest should work.  Yes, I use akeeba backup.

As always it's a lot easier and time efficient to talk vs write although I know that doesn't help anyone else...If we can come up with a simple solution we can post it. I'm a teacher and have an English student in about 30 minutes.  If you want to skype me...we can throw some ideas around before that.  Or gmail chat...dougm1966@ .com

possibly check your "livesite" parameter in joomla configuration.php...if it permissions 444, it must be changed first to 644, then edited, then change back permissions....sometimes if left empty when changing servers may be problem...
also, if recently restored form other server, the restoration may not have overwritten the .htaccess file...some host place a deafult .htaccess file in root directory that will not be overwritten by akeeba upon restoration....manually place joomla .htaccess file or file from old server...

Or, if using plugin for page caching (not the system cache from "global administration", but rather the plugin "system - cache"...may be issue there with joomla sef enabled. If so, disable this plugin, then go to tools and delete the "page cache"...again, this is not same as the system cache from the global configurations...

One last thing...if using a css or java compression plugin...check into this area also...

Thanks michael.

It seems like a tedious job to do. Apparently, my website files are over 8GB (the website is 12 years of news articles and in the first 11 years, we had only HTML pages with no databases) and uploading files from my country to the server in USA would take a long time. So once I get to that step, if I get stuck, I'd come back to you for help.

Really appreciate your help.
