Alternative to Simple Image Gallery? was created by Henrik Holm Nielsen
Hi all,

I'm in the process of moving a customers site from a non-cms solution to a K2 powered Joomla 1.5 site.

And I am in a desperate need of a image slideshow solution, where you can attach/upload the images directly from/on items, like you do with the SIG-driven "Image gallery" function embedded default.

The reason for not being able to use Simple Image Gallery, is that my customer does not want the thumbnailed layout SIG provides, but instead a simple image-placeholder where the images are floating by - with or without any navigation - kinda like JoomlaShacks "ShackSlide", as shown on the frontpage on demotemplates.joomlashack.com/onyx/

Does anybody have knowledge of this type of extention for K2? Commercial or non-commercial makes no difference - we just need this functionality badly :)

Cheers,

HHN ;)

Go to joomla.org and you can find under the Extension Specific/K2 Extension. As I remember there are several extensions available that will fit your need.

Hi Ibro,

Thanx for taking the time to reply.

I have actually allready crawled the K2 Extensions on Joomla.org, but did not find any there that would do this. But I'll have another look - maybe I missed it the first time ;)

Cheers!

I just went thru all K2 Extensions on joomla.org again, but as there is plenty of modules able to pick images from K2 items and show in any module position I wish, I still can't find any extensions/plugins allowing me to show a gallery on the item itself, like you can with Simple Image Gallery....

So - if anybody can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it!

Cheers ;)Ibro said:

Forget about modules. For each item you would need to copy module. You need plugin, nothing else would work OK.
But, question is. Does your client want to put slide images self ?
It is question how easy would it be to edit items ?

Actually I allready bought Ytc K2 Scroller, and it is a great module! However it is not suitable for this task, as it is presenting items with or without images - but is not able to pick up all images from one item, and present them on the Item itself...

Yes - my client wishes to be able to change the images on each item, and do this themselves. And I do not think this should be to difficult, as the Items allready have the option to do so, using the Simple Image Gallery which have a "Tab" on the item for this specific purpose.

But I agree with you, that it will have to be a Plugin - not a module...

With Modules Anywhere you can publish any module on the item itself.

Sure - but the customer would not be able to add the images directly from the item. Instead he would need to implement (in this case) 135 different slideshow modules - one for each of the items they will have, containing the corresponding images for each item/article...

And this is exactly what we are trying to avoid...
