Front end vanished to Error 403 was created by Susan Penter
I have just upgraded my K2 extension to 2.6.1 (I use Joomla 2.5.7) and although my back end is absolutely fine the whole of my front end has vanished to be replaced with an error 403 message.

The site is a free to use genealogy site and popular in many parts of the world. I have searched all over the web and can find no way of fixing this. I am a self taught amateur web developer and the current state of the site will be letting a lot of people down.

the site is here:
www.wiltshire-opc.org.uk/genealogy/
I would be very grateful for any help to get us back on line.
Thanks

for k2 2.6
check with ftp to see if you have a file...
/administrator/components/com_k2/models/cpanel.php
in your sites root directory
if you do, rename it and see if that helps

is your home menu a k2 category or item?
if so point home to a j article instead and see if the site loads
if so, create new menu links for k2

Thanks,

I linked to a Joomla article and the site then loaded with that article.

I then created a new menu item called "Welcome" to replace the "home" menu link but linking to the same "home" K2 item and reloaded but the site would not load again.

Does that mean the whole of K2 is broken?

Thanks for continued help.

Check your users
are there two admin users?
check the item or items on the home page..Check the author, access level, and start publishing date, and published status

Thanks for the info, I have checked all of the details you mentioned and looked through the post although some of the details were beyond my knowledge, there doesn't seem to be any logical reason for this.

To make matters worse although myself and other admins (all with their own log in names) cannot get access to the front end we have received a new user request so how has someone else got access to register when we can't see the site. This would seem like an impossibility to me!!!!

Thanks,

Susan

if it makes a difference the site has community builder 1.8.1 as well as the Joomla and K2 as listed above.

@Susan Penter

If you are using the K2 multiple images plugin you need to update it.

@Susan Penter

@Lefteris Kavadas is correct.
You'll need to contact them and get version K2MultiImages_1.1_K2_2.6.1_J3.0 OR disable the plugin
