If you have the ability of creating a Menu Item to your checkout, you could try using this extension

Joomla SEF Menu Extension

Please make sure to backup your site before installing extensions

I can't guarantee that it will work for your set up but it would be worth a try. If it doesn't work, please feel free to add me on Skype and we can look into this a bit more for you.

If you have an SEO Extension, you should be able to override that URL, if not then there's a possibility that your SEO Extension offers a "Commercial" plugin to rewrite that URL. Again this is something we could look into for you.

I look forward to your response!

Chris

No problem at all and sounds good

In the event you need assistance:
Just so we can somewhat coordinate before our Team Viewer session, you can contact me by email and/or Skype. The reason I suggested Skype is so you can provide me your Team Viewer ID and Session Password and in case you ever have questions and/or need help later on down the road.

Email: service AT seamuno DOT com (please write as standard email address)
Skype ID: Seamuno

I will reply a lot faster by email/skype as I am currently working between various pages/programs.

Thanks and I look forward to your response!

I apologize if my message was taken the wrong way and want to assure you that I am able to perform support without Skype, my email address was provided as an alternative means of getting in contact with me in case Skype was completely out of the question. I only wanted to provide a means of communication that would be efficient for both of us.

I manage countless clients using Skype but completely understand your point-of-view that for some who strictly use it for personal use would not want to share it for anything Web-Service related.

My contact details remain accessible to you should you change your mind and again I apologize for the way my message was received.

I am still available and interested in providing you assistance

Sincerely,
Chris

Hi Jana,

Thank you for your response!

I guess I assumed you were a business owner starting up an eCommerce site, instead I should have kept a mental note that this is a community based support forum so anyone (any age and gender) with access to starting a site would be posting on here, so again I do apologize.

In regards to the URL's

Starting with K2 URL Structure, you can do the following

Log into your Admin Control Panel

  1. Go to Components -> K2
  2. Look for the Parameters Button (top right *default admin template)
  3. Once clicked, click on "Advanced" Tab and scroll down to "Advanced SEO"
  4. Select "Enable advanced SEF for K2 URLs" to YES
  5. Select "Prefix for item URLs" to NONE

You can play around with the settings, hopefully getting the URL's close or even exactly to your liking

In terms of your Checkout URL, make sure you applied an Alias in your menu item, usually a date is placed when the alias is left blank. If that doesn't work, you can try installing the plugin I shared with you in an earlier post and that should do the trick.

Upon installing the plugin, all you have to do is go to your menu item and click a new button beside your Title/Alias and that will allow you to apply a simplified URL.

To remove index.php from the URL on all pages, you would have to change the settings in your Global Configuration

Go to System -> Global Configuration

Once you have redirected to Global Configuration, look on the right side and you should see "SEO Settings"

Make sure your SEO Settings are set to

Search Engine Friendly URLs = YES
Use URL rewriting = YES
Adds Suffix to URL = NO
Unicode Aliases = NO

If you have any issues and need further assistance, let me know.

Good Luck and I'll keep an eye out for your response

Yes, thank you it helps and the URL after I did this:
"Go to Components -> K2
Look for the Parameters Button (top right *default admin template)
Once clicked, click on "Advanced" Tab and scroll down to "Advanced SEO"
Select "Enable advanced SEF for K2 URLs" to YES
Select "Prefix for item URLs" to NONE"

is now this: /index.php/blog

BUT... when I follow your help to disable "index.php" I get this :( error:

Not Found
The requested URL /blog was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.27 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.27 OpenSSL/1.0.1e-fips mod_bwlimited/1.4 Server at mywebsite.com Port

Regarding the Hikashop menu, I have aliase 'checkout' and it is made from hikamenu so I dont understand why the date is showing :(

..thanks for help.

Regarding that specific error, I'm not 100% sure off the top of my head as i've never encountered it after applying those settings but it is possible that your server only allows your URL's to be re-written to a certain point. Try clearing your site's cache and refresh the page, otherwise you can change the setting back to get rid of that error.

I can see about looking into that error and if I find a solution I'll let you know.

I would recommend making a new Menu Item for your Hikashop "Checkout", so make a second menu somewhere else (perhaps a hidden menu) and give the menu an alias of "checkout" and see what happens.

I know with a few extensions, making a second menu item will override and apply a new alias. You can give it a shot, if that doesn't work, you can try installing that plugin I mentioned.

If there's anything else let me know, until then, I'm happy we cleared things up and I was able to assist you with the issue you were having.

Good Luck with your website!

Chris
