Display K2 user articles on Frontend was created by Ilan Dvash
Dear friends,

I want to add users in K2 and give them an option to write articles.
How can I display the user and his articles on the frontend?

I want to do the same as in the demo site:

Thank you,

Ilan.

Dear Krikor,

Thank you for your answer.

The question is how can I search users by category and display them on the frontend with the articles they wrote?
(I know how to add articles to a user)

Another question - How can I add fields to users such a "Profession", "City", "Phone number" and "Email"?

Thank you again!

Ilan.

You can use the K2 Users module which lets you display certain users in the frontend.

You can try this extension for additional fields. getk2.org/extend/extensions/73-user-extended-fields-for-k2

Dear Krikor,

I did what you said but I cannot add my fields.

The extension has it's own fields.

My intention is that someone can enter to the site and search for K2 users by "Experience", "City", etc.

Is it possible?

Unfortunately no.

You can 'hack' this extension and add more fields but for filtering, you will need an additional extension. I haven't used one but I think, this can be a core com_users extension as well.

Dear Krikor,

Is it possible to MANUALLY create items in K2 that will be the used as users, with their personal fields than can be added, then search for users by city, experience, etc?

While doing do, is it possible to show the related documents (I can add them manually for each user) of each one?

To summarize my intention: I want to create a coachers's catalog of coachers with their details and articles, so people can search for them and hire them.

Any idea?

Thank you!!

Ilan.

Yes, this approach is more correct.
Each person is a K2 item with extrafields for their experience, location, rates etc.

The related items are automatically generated from tags.

Now if you want to take it a bit further you will need an extension to filter and search your content based on your extrafields (K2 does not do this by default but several K2 plugins do).
As for the related items, there are also extensions which allow to change the criteria on which items appear.

Dear Krikor,

Now I will check that.

Last question on that issue - Do you know about the K2 plugins that do allow to search by fields and also show related articles for each K2 item (that will be a user)?

Thank you once more for your help!

Ilan.
