"Latest From ...." does not update

I have tried entering a duplicate of the item as administrator and then reassigning the item to the user's name and this works only occasionally. This is a relatively new problem. I have K2 2.6.9 and Joomla 3.3. The website is ieterna.org and K2 has been the perfect tool to design this nonprofit site!

I deactivated plugins but the problem remained.
However, with some experimenting, I found that if the user enters their own "Author alias" then "Latest from..." gets turned OFF.
When I removed the author alias, "Latest from..." was turned ON and the user's published items showed up. This was repeatable.
I can intercept this error now that I understand it, but how could it be fixed permanently?
Also, thank you for your kind words about our nonprofit foundation website! I will submit it to the K2 showcase.

I do not know how to permanently fix this issues, perhaps Mohamed could assist you. As he is a Joomla K2 programmer (www.joomreem.com)
On another note, you should consider using a Joomla optimization script to reduce the number of HTTP requests and minify your JavaScript and CSS.
I would recommend the following two extensions:

Have you determined a solution to the issue of Latest From Author not updating. We have a much simpler site. Doesn't seem that the 'author alias' issue is our issue...

I have not found any other way to correct this problem, other than deleting the Author alias. I don't have the programming background to go exploring any deeper. It is a very recent problem, so maybe it could be tracked down by looking at differences to the previous K2/Joomla release combination?

The alias field is used to assign an item to a user that is not registered to the site nor does he belong to any K2 user groups.
To keep my answer short items that have an alias setup will not show up to the author's page since they 'belong' to another user.

Your explanation fits with what I have been observing. I don't quite understand why it is designed this way. All users able to create items from the front end have to be registered authors. When a guest visits the site they would like to be able to see all items published by registered users. Authors can use any name they like - the alias is an extra bit of capability not really needed I think. Perhaps it would be nice to be able to turn it off. Or perhaps, I am missing some other important point. At any rate the alias is rarely used so I can continue to intercept when someone does.

We have less than 80 items, so I went through them one by one and made sure the Author Alias field was truly deleted... (As I mentioned before, I only used it once out of curiosity and deleted it soon after.) So far no change.

In the database the created_by_alias cell of the xx_k2_items tables, is it empty?
Is the ordering of the menu item wrong? Eg: Is it by id and when you change it to publishing time for example the item shows up?

1) This may take me a while to figure out.. I'm a novice and don't know where to look for the database you mentioned..
2) It doesn't seem to be an ordering problem... There are 5 "Latest from..." that appear and they never change, no matter what happens on the site. Thx.

The Latest From feature is still not working. It seems to be a flaw in the K2 Joomla! .... I wish it worked.. Can they repair it in a coming release????
