Hi Fotis,

We have come across another issue with the 2.10 dev version of K2 but we aren't sure how long it's been a problem so can't say which build version of 2.10 it started on but it's fine on 2.9.1. As you are probably aware, if you don't enter any page title or meta details in the K2 item, it pulls some text from the article. However, we have always added these details at a menu level and it's always been pulled through correctly on the frontend. Version 2.10 ignores the menu page title and meta details and just pulls text from the article but 2.9.1 uses the menu details as expected, so we know it's not a Joomla error. Could you please have a look at this for us.

Yes it is slightly different as it's the K2 item pages as well as the category pages that aren't showing the correct meta details. It's only v2.10 that doesn't work though.

My tests show otherwise. Can you try with a vanilla Joomla & K2 combo please? Some 3rd party extension might be interfering...

Hi Fotis,

I have set up a brand new Joomla site (3.9.12) with your latest dev version of K2 (K2 v2.10.0 [Dev Build 20190915]) and the problem is still recurring. I will apologise as it it looks like the page titles are okay but it's the meta details that aren't showing up correctly. I have attached a couple of screenshots, one showing the description in the menu and the other showing the head section from the frontend of the site which shows that it is pulling all the meta data from the article text. I can give you access to this dev site if you require.

Can't confirm. See menu tab and rendered code.

Can you check if you have any other extension installed that could be messing with the meta data?

That is very odd as it is literally a brand new Joomla site I just spun up and only installed K2 on it. Absolutely nothing else.

Updating the thread for everyone else. The issue was indeed with the item view which has been corrected.

Anyone using v2.10 (dev) should upgrade to yesterday's build from: github.com/getk2/k2/archive/master.zip

We've just discovered that the issue we mentioned in this thread www.joomlaworks.net/forum/k2-en/50420-k2-category-menu-links-ignoring-browser-page-title is still a problem with K2 10.0. I have updated our test site that I gave you access to previously with a category layout to show you it's not working there. Let me know if you need the test site details sent through again.

I'm preparing v2.10.1 for release by Friday. It has all <head> stuff rebuild from scratch for the itemlist & latest views according to how they were implemented for the item view.

Keep an eye on social and the K2 blog for the release notes soon.

Fixed in K2 v2.10.1 (dev). You can test it by grabbing: github.com/getk2/k2/archive/master.zip

Great :)

Keep in mind the ordering is simple:

Global config meta, replaced by whatever comes from each K2 entity (item, category etc.) and finally replaced by whatever is getting set in the menu item.

Some K2 entities like date/search listings don't have menus or other settings for meta so they will inherit those from global config meta settings plus some smart content generation to fill the gaps.

The point is that now all views have the same set of meta tags.

dear fotis!

sorry for offtopic question but one of our customers has the same issue with version 2.10.0 and page title not setting with values of according menu entries. because of the reason the site is live and loosing seo ranking I wonder if you could tell me when the version 2.10.1 is planned to be published as joomla-update?
or if there is an other way to get this funktionality working like it was in versions previous to 2.10.0?

It's been fixed in v2.10.1 which should be out later today or tomorrow morning.

Grab the dev version for now github.com/getk2/k2/archive/master.zip and just remember to update to the "stable" release when it's out.
