News of the J1.5 version comming this Friday is very welcome :)

Just out of curiosity, will this be an updated v1.2 or will it be the v1.3 that everyone is talking about?

SIG Pro for joomla 1.5 is now up on www.joomlaworks.net

Check out the demos on joomla15.joomlaworks.net/

The automated download system will also be up in a few hours so all JoomlaWorks customers can login to download this latest version.

We'll roll out an official announcement for existing customers in a few hours.

greetings,

do i understand correctly?  ....the working version of SIG Pro for Joomla 1.5 will be released on 14 Feb.

is this why the version i've just purchased still only displays the mark-up?
{gallery}myfolder{/gallery}

despite my best efforts to de-bug & implement on my 1.5.1 stable [seenu] site,
i've not been able to get SIG to work on my web host server.

thanx, for any clarification.
even though i tho't i've just purchased a working SIG pro .zip for Joomla 1.5,
i guess i can wait for another two days for a better RC of the script.

Gosh, I am very confused now, I also bought a copy on Tues 12 Feb of what I thought was the version for Joomla 1.5.  I haven't even been able to install it, and getting no response from the forum for help?  What gives, I know that I only paid a token amount for the commercial version, but hey, it was still a money transaction.  ???
Where do I go from here, do I wait and see what happens on Friday with the supposed real version and see if I can install that??? Or do I just put it down to a loss and move on??

I don't know how the final version of sigPro for J1.5 will look like. But i've found some performance issues which (i think) should be fixed too. So please (jw devs) check the following tipps. I've already implemented them on my 1.5 version and it works a lot faster if you have a lot of pictures. Some Hosting providers are using SAN which may be very flexible in adding disc space but has incredibly slow file access. So i tried to minimize file access (fix2+3).

Don't be confused, the lines i show here are already migrated to J1.5!!

Fix 1: md5 for Labels and Thumbs are getting calculated 3-5 times per picture. You could store the md5 result in vars and use them later:
$labname = md5(JPATH_SITE.$rootfolder.$_images_dir_.'/'.$images[$a]);
$tmbname = md5($_images_dir_.$name);

// if labels do exist
if ($labels[$labname]!="") {
...

Fix 2: If you use labels, the script will calculate image dimensions for ALL pictures in gallery, even if you just show 1 picture of the gallery. So i added the following if
if ((!$_howmanythumbs_) || ($a<$_howmanythumbs_)) {
...
}
in
if ($labels[$labname]!="") {
  if ((!$_howmanythumbs_) || ($a<$_howmanythumbs_)) {
   // get thumb image size
   $image_info = @getimagesize(JPATH_SITE.$tempfolder.$tmbname.".".$format);
   $caption_width = $image_info[0];
   $final_caption = htmlentities($labels[$labname],ENT_QUOTES);
   // if word limitation is defined
   if ($caption_limit) {
   $word_arr = str_word_count($final_caption, 2, '&;');//Fix:Param '&;' for &uuml;
   $c = 0;
   foreach ($word_arr AS $k => $v) {
    if ($c == $caption_limit) {
    if(function_exists("mb_string")) {
     $final_caption = mb_substr($final_caption, 0, $k).'...';
    } else {
     $final_caption = substr($final_caption, 0, $k).'...';
    }
    break;
   }
   $c++;
   }
  }
  if (!$caption_hide) {
   $html .= '<span class="sig_pseudocaption" style="width:'.($caption_width-4).'px"><b>'.$final_caption.'</b></span><span class="sig_caption" style="width:'.($caption_width-4).'px" title="'.$clickopen.'">'.$final_caption.'</span>';
  }
 }
}

Fix 3: Caching can be improved. The following line changes the behaviour of caching to: Thumbnail-Cache > 0 means normal caching of x hours. Thumbnail-Cache = 0 means just create Thumbnail if it doesn't exist, else take Thumbnail and never check filetime.
Change:
if (file_exists(JPATH_SITE.$tempfolder.md5($_images_dir_.$name).".".$format) &&
filemtime (JPATH_SITE.$tempfolder.md5($_images_dir_.$name).".".$format) +
$cache_expire_time * 60 > time()) {
to
if (file_exists(JPATH_SITE.$tempfolder.$tmbname.".".$format)) {
  if (($cache_expire_time == 0) || (filemtime (JPATH_SITE.$tempfolder.$dirname.".".$format)
+ $cache_expire_time * 60 > time()))

You could optimize even more by using a table, but this would crack the design of sig too much.

Gtx,
Ken

Greetings,

any updates available as to status of sigPro plugin for J1.5?

tho't the latest version was to be released today, Feb. 14--is there a new schedule?

previously, very happy with JoomlaWorks extensions, very cutting edge & easy to implement--
in fact the sigPro plug-in for J1.0.x works great on my 1.0.14 site--installs & works "out of the box"
--no resetting permissions or hard coding patches; it just works, unlike the version for J1.5
and now with the delays in the release--i'm becoming kinda frustrated.

we know that there is difficulty in rewriting the extensions for J1.5, but why release them
(especially the paid Pro version) until they are stable & work with the latest 1.5.1 stable release?

some clarification, please--i think we are mostly all willing to wait for the J1.5 plug-in--
but please some updates & communication would help!

thanx again for your great contributions to the Joomla community.

regards,
meanpony
