[Solved] AllVideos and IE9 and 10 was created by jcpz
Hi,

Great plugin thanks!

For some reason I cannot seem to get videos to play in IE9 (and 10). They work in IE7 - I haven't tested 8.

An error message pops up blaming either the video (unsupported) - these are .mp4s encoded in H.264, or the server - I have a ticket in to my provider with a question about server settings as there was a recent upgrade to new hardware. Also there's a message about being undefined...

I've checked these pages, as well as other discussions out there. No concrete solutions yet.

Can anyone help?

Did you check videos in our demo site?

Yes, I did.

I also heard back from my hosting provider who thinks it may be a problem with the plugin. This is what they said:

"The issue is the plugin itself or the Amazon CDN. I tested this using IE9. On the page you cannot see the images because of the way the plugin is embedding them. You may consider getting another plugin that will work with this properly. You could always use Youtube videos and embed those in your page. They seem to work fine across all browsers without any issues. I tested the videos on internet explorer by finding the links in the source of the page to the images. I then pasted the direct video links to the the videos into the browser. The browser didn't have a player within it that would play the files but it definitely downloaded them from the link and played them from the media player that's built into windows."

Is there a way to get this working for IE9 using the plugin, which I think is great?

Am I doing something wrong with the way I have it set up?

Thanks for your help.

If the problem was related to AllVideos then you wouldn't be able to see the videos in our demo page in IE9 and IE10.

Katia, your plugin works for me with the same configuration in IE7, Firefox and Chrome, and all browsers in OS X.

Unfortunately it just doesn't work for me in IE9 or 10, and I don't know why.

I realize your demo videos work in IE9 and 10 - I would be very surprised if they didn't.

The question is, are you willing to help me get my videos working in IE9 and 10 too?

If you could take a look and make a helpful suggestion that would be great. Thanks.

It seems that there is a JavaScript error on your page. Probably this is causing this. The error is coming from the rokzoom.js file. Try to disable that script and see if that solves your issue.

After a good deal of hunting around and me following Katia's advice to try eliminate the issue by disabling and re-enabling modules, extension, and components (without success), Katia found the answer here:

www.longtailvideo.com/support/forums/jw-player/setup-issues-and-embedding/33432/added-mime-types-but-video-doesnt-play-in-ie/

Basically it's an issue at the AWS S3 end. For videos to play properly in IE9 and 10 using JW Player, open the bucket where you store your videos, for each video select the properties tab, and then Metadata. Delete the key that is showing, and click add more metadata. Select content-type in the first box; in the second box type: video/mp4 (if your video is mp4, of course...).

This solved it for me. Thanks Katia!
