[SOLVED] One mp3 plays, one doesn't was created by scene66
Hi

I have a folder with two mp3s.

One plays, one doesn't. They were both supplied by the same artist. They both play on the local machine. The file that does play is 4.4MB. The file that doesn't play is 9.7MB.

The file that does play:
www.urbanchannel.com.au/hip-hop/australian-hip-hop/resin-dogs-still-the-beats

The file that doesn't play:
www.urbanchannel.com.au/hip-hop/australian-hip-hop/exclusive-resin-dogs-ride-feat-kel-timmons

Syntax has been triple-checked: {mp3}ResinDogs/Ride{/mp3}
Have tried substituting the track that does work into article to ensure the Joomla article and path are both OK.

I'd appreciate any assistance.

UPDATE: The file that doesn't work, works on another of our sites. Is there a memory issue/ parameter that I don't know of?

Could you fetch the mp3 that doesn't play through AllVideos plugin in order to check it out?

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply, Yiota. Happy to assist, but I don't understand what you're asking.

Through the second URL you have provided, the one that you say that the mp3 doesn't play, the mp3 player is not coming through AllVideos but through the com_jxtcalbumplayer component.

Yes that's right. I had to switch to a different solution. I did that 5 hours ago.

I will recreate the error on a different link if you wish.

OK, this link has two players. The first works, the second doesn't.

The mp3 in the second player works:
i) using the AllVideos plugin on a different site
ii) in another player on this site

I saw that you get a 403 Forbidden error for this specific mp3 file.
Please check the file's permissions and owner.
There is also a double slash between the music folder and your own. Remove the one you use for your tags, i.e. from {mp3}/ResinDogs/Ride.mp3{/mp3} to {mp3}ResinDogs/Ride.mp3{/mp3}

How strange. There is no extra slash in my code view/ WYSIWIG view (screenshot).

I'll check permissions now.

I'll check permissions now.

Bingo! A permissions issue. The file now plays. Thank you Yiota.

Where did you 'read' the permissions 403?

I saw it through the Console of the Firebug. It is a browser extension both for Firefox and Chrome. :)

Thank you. I have Firebug, but don't use it as often as I should and didn't think to use it this time — yet to master it.
