Help adding .mov video to Joomla 3.0 was created by juliader
Hello,
I am trying to add a .mov video to my joomla 3.0 site. The video is called 'greatvideo.mov' and it is saved in 'myvideos' folder on my desktop. I have entered the following code into the article I would like it to be displayed on my site:
{mov}myvideos/greatvideo{/mov}
When I look at my site, I see a black square with the blue quicktime icon and a question mark in the middle.
Can someone please help me and tell me what I am doing wrong!
I would really appreciate it!
Thanks so much!

Hello juliader,
What do you mean by saying "is saved in 'myvideos' folder on my desktop" ? You need to upload the video or use a service like YouTube or Vimeo.

Hi,
Thanks. I haven't up loaded my video to youtube because I would prefer to keep it private. Do i need to upload it to youtube or vimeo to use AllVideos? Is there a way to upload my mov. video to joomla 3.0 without up loading it to a public service like youtube?
Thanks so much

You cannot embed private videos from Youtube or Vimeo. You need to upload it like the way you upload images through the media manager.

ok thanks, I tried to upload my video (which is located in a file on my desktop) to my media manager in Joomla 3.0. But I received a message saying that the media type was not compatible. I thought a .mov file could be added to joomla. Please help. Thanks.

You can upload it through your FTP client.

Hi, okay I found my FTP client on my Joomla 3.0. But how do i upload a file. It asks me to enter in the following:
FTP host: 127.0.0.1
FTP port 21
FTP username
FTP password
FTP root
Do i keep the host and port values? And what do i enter for the username, password and root? I also clicked enable FTP. But where do I upload the .mov file?
Thanks!

You need an FTP client like Filezilla, the passwords, usernames and ports are something your hosting provider will give you.
Also you can google about Joomla!'s file structure and the folder you need to upload the video to (/images).
