Not getting local videos to play was created by Bob
Hello again. I can get external youtube videos to play fine. Can't get anything to play locally on a few client sites. I've noticed a few threads with similar problems but haven't found a solution for me.
I set up an example page on a different website on a different server and have the same problem.
Joomla 3.4.4, AllVideo 4.7.0.
Local Video Folder set to "images".
Test page damprabbit.com/test
Full path to video which works damprabbit.com/images/video/test.mov
Plugin source code is looking for /images/video/test.mov
Tag on page is {mov}video/test{/mov}
I've tried different mp4 videos and different path settings, always a blank screen.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Bob

Hi, I did a little more testing. I installed a clean copy of Joomla in MAMP on my Mac. I made a page with nothing but youtube, mov and mp4 tags.
I tested in Safari, Firefox and Chrome. All play the youtube video, none play the mp4 with the error it needs a plugin. Chrome offered more detail support.google.com/chrome/answer/6213033
The mov file plays but is zoomed and cropped. I tried setting the default video size in the plugin to the actual video size 480x270 but it still does not play correctly.

Hi,
Try to rename the file plugins/content/jw_allvideos/jw_allvideos/includes/js/quicktimeplayer/AC_QuickTime.js to lowercase.
Let me know if that solves your issue.

No changes, because you didn't apply what i suggested. I still see the file in uppercase:
damprabbit.com/plugins/content/jw_allvideos/jw_allvideos/includes/js/quicktimeplayer/AC_QuickTime.js
Rename it to AC_QuickTime.js and it should work.

Yes I have tried renaming the file, on the test I've linked here (I just changed it once again) on other active sites and on a clean install in MAMP. Changing the name of AC_QuickTime to lower case does not fix anything. I saw the other thread mentioning it and have tried it.

Do you think this error from my earlier post is the answer? It seems to be saying you're using a plugin format that is no longer supported.
Why NPAPI plugins don’t work now
In the past, many plugins were developed using an old system called NPAPI. Today fewer sites are using NPAPI plugins and they have often caused security risks on websites.
To make browsing with Chrome safer, faster, and more stable, we stopped allowing NPAPI plugins on September 1, 2015.
Plugins that use NPAPI, including Silverlight, Java, and Unity, won’t work. If you want to use a website that uses an NPAPI plugin, you’ll need to use a different web browser.
PPAPI plugins still work
Plugins that use a newer, more secure system called Pepper API (PPAPI) still work. That includes plugins that come with Chrome, like Adobe Flash. PPAPI plugins that come with Chrome update when Chrome does, so there's no need to install anything extra.

This is the second error. The first error is the file name. Chrome dropped support for MOV files. There is nothing you can do about it. I suggest to use a different video format. MP4 is the way to go here to ensure maximum device compatibility.
