silverlight - how NOT to use it was created by jazzking2001
i upload lots of videos to my own server and use allvideo to show it off
however it requires people to download a program (silverlight) that no one has ever heard of
as a result people are unable to watch my videos because they do not want to download and install a program just to watch a video

how can i change this? i do enjoy using allvideo but ........

This is the first time I am hearing such an issue about AllVideos...
Please provide me a link to the page of your site with the plugin...

neocrisis.com/random/181-random-page-18/3853-headshots

the video is uploaded to my ftp and i use allvideos to play it
the only way for me to even watch the video was/is that i had to DL and install silverlight onto my computer. same thing happens to everyone else is that unless you install silverlight, they wont be able to watch video

if you look at the code (view html source of link above) for allvideo you will see it uses silverlight

object type="application/x-silverlight" data="data:application/x-silverlight,"

the code below is from a youtube video that as you know uses flash

type="application/x-shockwave-flash"

i want to edit the allvideo code to use flash instead of silverlight

PS - i am not a coder or anything so i dont think its as easy as the steps above but hopefully it is

I think you better prepare your viewers/customers for Silverlight. It's been on the market for 3 years now (released in december 2007).

Microsoft have just released version 4.0 now and it's a very impressive plugin. In my opinion much better than Flash. Small, powerfull (uses hardware rendering), offline capabilities, XAML declarative, included in Microsofts development tools like Visual Studio, Expression Studio and many many more features.

I have been using Silverlight on my sites for 2 years now and all users have SL installed.
Both used for video and powerfull enterprise applications.
