I receive this message after both manual and standard installation (via installation/index.php and with kickstart.php of Akeeba) attempts:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, admin@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Is there something wrong with the file? Perhaps...

Which Joomla! version did you use?

joomla 3, server PHP 5.3

I assume 5.3.1 + which Joomla requires.
When does this error occur? After the installation or the installation fails entirely?

I dl 'ed it and installed it without any issues.
Make sure you did not download a corrupt file. You can try reuploading the quickstart package,

FInally can you see the Fatal error in your error_log file?

You mean error.php into map log?

This is a server(host) related issue.

All files have the wrong permissions 777.
It should be 644 for files and 755 for folder.

For security reasons your host has disabled the execution of these files.

You can use your FTP client to change the permissions of the files/folders and then use Admin Tools (already installed) to batch correct them, or ask your hosting provider to do this.

PS. I changed /installation/index back to 777 to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
