Akeeba help was created by Christopher Buckingham
I had my website perfect and i just blew it up. I'm going to show how little I know about this stuff, but I'm afraid to continue for fear of losing what I've been working quite a while on.

I was removing folders via FTP from my server that I thought were un-related to my website- they were not the folders from the Torreda package. I moved them to my local harddrive and am now in the process of moving them back. Anyhow, now when I bring up my web URL: www.stumptowncreative.com the Akeeba backup installer is brought up. I did back up the site maybe 5 days ago, but the backup that is showing is much older.

Is there anything I can do to bring my website back? Sorry, all of this is new to me and I'm afraid I only understand enough of it to be dangerous.

Let me know if I can explain anything more.
Thank you,
Christopher

Hello Christopher,

Sorry about your site.
The site I am looking at this moment it is definitely not Toreda so I am assuming at this point that the backup did not go as planned.

The most important part is the DB. Make sure you have not altered the DB because it contains all your items and settings.

Finally you need to read this piece of documentation: nuevvo.com/documentation/general-resources/installation/item/63-manually-install-the-quickstart-package

This applies to the backup of your site, just make sure you use another db. you do not want to erase your db as well. The zip you need is located under administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup.

Another methis would be reversing that procedure and moving these files back. If nothing was deleted the site will most probably work as intended.

Thanks for the advice.. I rerouted the domain, so that's why it looks different. here it is: s238653671.onlinehome.us/stcreative/
Forgot to edit my post.

I didn't want to do the quickstart for fear of overwriting my data. The weird thing is, I didn't touch anything in the stcreative folder above.. I moved / then deleted folders of old websites I was testing.

Another thing to note is, I was able to backup by Akeeba on 4/11 and I think I found that backup. So, the best plan would be to create a new database, run angie with the new database and then once it is up, restore from that backup? Copying the folders back didn't help so I'm assuming something got deleted that shouldn't have.

Christopher,
somebody might sniff that and you might end up deleting your site alltogether.
So you should run the installer asap.

I think that would be a good solution (the manual installation), starting with a Fresh new DB.
If you can use the Angie in a new db that would save a lot of time as well.

The optimal solution would be to manual extract the backup and try to upload these folders.
This might work as well but it may also cause more issues, so proceed with caution.

OK, so I ran the Angie with the new database I created. My frontend doesn't work, but the backend is useable now.

How exactly do I manually extract the backup I created on 4/11? Is there a way to upload this backup from Akeeba on my backend? I poked around and it wasn't immediately apparent.. also this backup doesn't show under the "manage backups" in the Akeeba component. It is still on the FTP server (i also copied it to my harddrive).. it is here: /stcreative/administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup

Here is a screenshot: s238653671.onlinehome.us/screenshot.jpg

What is the safest way to reinstall this backup?

You need to do two things at the moment,

1) Turn on error reporting (Global Configuration -> Server Tab) to see why your site is failing.
2) Head on to akeeba.com to see how you can extract and use jpa files.

Update: I see the errorMsg: 'Table 'db525967187.xs8ea_k2store_currency' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT *
make sure you have selected the proper table prefix xs8ea in your configuration.php file.

I'll research the Akeeba instructions. thanks. Also will check config PHP.

Turned on the developer error reporting. My site now reads this:

These are not actual errors, just notices that do not affect your site's functionality.

If you have not used the .jpa file by now you can try reinstalling all the extension and updating/reinstalling Joomla!'s latest version.

If I were you I would reinstall the jpa site since a lot of files might be affected.
btw do you remember which files or folders you deleted?

I haven't extracted the .jpa file yet.

I went to extension manager and update.. i updated all extensions. I am downloading Joomla 3.2.3 update to update the version.

I don't know which files were deleted. Would it be helpful to send you a screenshot of my ftp file structure or give you a login?

regarding earlier question: configuration php.. this is how it is configured:

You should probably delete this after you 've read this post.

public $host = 'db525967187.db.1and1.com'; Is this correct, 99% it 's localhost, although I admit I 've never worked with 1and1.
Other than that I can not spot any issues.

PS. Use the contact form - nuevvo.com/contact - to send us any credentials.
PS2. The db error is caused by K2Store you try enabling/disabling the extension to see if the rest of the site works.
Futhermore you can look up the error in their support to see if there is a solution posted. k2store_currency' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT
