when installing into a subdomain say phatbeatz.net/beta I get a weird redirection after install

It seems to work in my end.
Make sure you did not enter a wrong value in the live site field during the installation.

Admin panel won't login it just stays in that screen after input

You should try upgrading/ reinstalling Joomla! manually, it is possible that something went wrong during the installation.
