It is if you use the component view instead of K2 Content modules.
To do this go to your homepage menu and change it to a K2 Categories one.
The layout will change of course.

This view loads an external script after the page has been loaded which results to the gap.

You have three options

a) Use CSS only for large view ports. This might cause issues to other views of that component but this is a longshot.

b) Re run the script which will cause a slight overhead.

c) Leave as is.
