Hello Nicklas,
This is the core from the offline.php.
This code renders the site's offline message. You do not need to edit the php, all you need to do is enter a new custom message from your site's global configuration.
offlineMsg: '<?php echo (strlen(trim($app->getCfg('offline_message'))<5)) ? nuText('JOFFLINE_MESSAGE') : nuText($app->getCfg('offline_message')); ?>'

Hello Alfonso,
I didn't get a response from Nicklas, so I have to answer the same question to you.
Is your configuration.php file writable?
If it isn't then your site's options cannot be saved in this file.
You can see which files/ folders are unwritable from the System Information menu item.

Having the same problem. I did check my config.php and it is writable, but still not seeing my custom message on the front end. I can see it on the backend, but not as the front end offline message. it only shows the default message no matter how I try to change it.

I know it is a long time ago that this forum post was initiated, but i now have the same problem.
Ik have set a custom offline message in the back-end configuration and i can see the message i saved, but on the front-end another message is show
This is whats happens in my case.
- I have a closed forum that is only for registered users.
- I send a link to a forumpost in my newsletter.
- The user clicks on this link and a message is shown that the forum is offline and under maintenance (in Dutch)
The message that is shown is not the message i save in the configuration.
Also i can't seem to find where this message is comming from.

@Edwin Witlox
This is not related with K2 at all.
Probably your template is using an override for the offline.php. So check your template's files.
