I'm getting this error message on the Disqus plug-in screen, and on my pages that have comments enabled.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?

This function is not available anymore starting from PHP 5.4.  Do you plan to update the plugin in the future? The recommended practice is as follows (excerpt from php.ini comment):

The acceptable method for passing a value by reference to a function is by declaring the reference in the functions definition, not at call time."
