I have try to install that extension on Joomla 1.6.0 but I hit into situation with an error

Fatal error: Call to undefined method JDatabaseMySQLi:quoteName() in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/administrator/components/com_fpss/tables/slide.php on line 51

Also admin front page says

Error loading component: com_fpss, 1

and there is not additional menu in the Components section.

Permission to /media/com_fpss/ is set to 777 and GD Image Library for PHP is enabled.

Any idea what can be wrong?

Please install Admin Tools from www.akeebabackup.com/ in order to fix your permissions as they should be and then reinstall the extension.

Right permissions on all joomla sites:
755 for folders
644 for files

Lastly, I would suggest you to upgrade to the latest joomla version since the one you use is not a long term supported version.

I have proceed those steps:

1. Uninstalled Frontpage Slideshow
2. Fixed permissions with Admin Tools
3. Installed back Frontpage Slideshow

and now I have got those errors:

        JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file
        JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
        Error building Admin Menus

        Notice: Frontpage Slideshow Content Elements for Joom!Fish were not copied to the related folder, because Joom!Fish was not found on your system.
        Installing component was successful.

Any thoughts?

It looks like there is no Joomla!Fish for Joomla 1.6 but why Frontpage Slideshow appears to have support for 1.6 then?

We highly recomment the upgrade to latest joomla version since 1.6 and 1.7 are not long term supported.
However, FPSS can be used with or without Joom!Fish.

Can you provide steps how to use FS without Joom!Fish?
