I read all about this a the previews topics and the possible solution like this:

These are the right steps:

1. In the "slides" list, filter a certain category from the drop down, located on the right, above the slides list.
2. Now you see the slides for that particular category. Hit the "Order" table header, so manual ordering is enabled.
3. Drag a slide from the 4-directional arrow to re-order it.
That's it :)

but the order remain the same. I tried to drag thw slides, i tried to change the numbers but nothing

I've just posted a support ticket to get this looked into.

In Joomla 2.5 (yet to try in 1.5 or 3.1) even when you click on order or featured order, you can't then edit the ordering - you can only sort by it.

You can also not rearrange the ordering from within the slide's settings.

Currently I've had to go into PHPMyAdmin and manually change the ordering in the table directly.

This is probably the result of not clicking the "Save Order" icon.

I have attached a screenshot that shows where the icon is.

Sidenote- the fact that sorting is off by default is incredibly awful UX design. It is impossible to figure out how to activate it without docs or Google...and that is a terrible thing to do.
