You can not update via the Joomla admin. Does the newer full version download update rather than overwrite the existing. Wish there was more information covering this update.
Any help would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hello Sebron,
Since Joomla! update manager cannot detect if a user has a valid subscription, the update has to be performed manually, through the subscriber's dashboard.

Hi Thanks for the reply
I totally understand that. However, I am wanting to know that if I take the new version and install it it will NOT overwrite the content I already have on my site. This is all am am looking to verify. Please let me know as soon as you can.

I assume that you are using a recent version. You will not lose any content whatsoever.
If you are on an obsolete version (highly unlikely), prior to 3.x you need to backup your slides, remove the old version and install 3.8 on top.

Don't worry, the chance of data loss is very low. I was updated in a similar way, using all types of connections , everything was OK.

Hello Andre,
Within the 3.x version there is no data loss.
If you upgrade from an older 2.x version then you 'd have to backup your data.
However since 2.x is a really outdated version the possibility of a user falling in this category is highly unlikely.
