add extra field with example plugin was created by jsmith

So far I've been able to figure out how to add extra fields with modifying sample plugin right under the content tab which is great. However, I just want the extra fields from the plugin shows only in the category that I want. Does anyone know how to do that?

Hi Jsmith,

Can you share the plugin with the community?
In order to solve my problem about relating k2 items I maybe will use an extended field.
I will save time if I can take a look on your plugin.

I was just using Example K2 Plugin and try to modify from there. You can download that from K2 Extend (KED) getk2.org/extend

Extended field has very limited features and you can't customise much. This is the only drawback from K2.

I took a look on Sherpa extenxion for K2. It seems to solve the limitation on extended field.

That doesn't fix my problem. What I want is to be able to have my plugin with the extra fields appear on the category I want. I also want put it under content tab or create extra tab.

Hi,

I'm not sure you'll be able to do that (i mean having your plugin displayed on selected categories) cause categories can be changed via the select list.

The extra fields are reloaded via Ajax on category list change, not the plugins.

Thats what I have done on my first K2 plugin which inspired by what it currently does on extra fields. I've added ajax call so now my pluging only appear on where I want.

I have been trying to figure this out my self but but haven't gotten anywhere. it would be awesome if you can share your plugin, or tell us how you did it.
