Hi Ray,

Not really sure what you are referring to. It works fine for me.

Have you edited your template files perhaps and removed it accidentally?

Can you give us more details of what you're experiencing?

Hi Lance,

Sorry, allow me to elaborate.
I have the latest K2 installed on 2 Joomla installations. Everything works as it should, apart from the Introtext function.

I am showing the latest items from a single K2 category in a menu item. However , when 'Show Introtext' is set to yes. It shows all the text within the item, rather than just the first 30 words, which is what my introtext parameter is set to in 'Item view options in category listings'.

I understand this is a long standing issue in K2 and I've trawled through every forum post on the topic, but none of the solutions offered make a difference.

Do you know of a solution to this?

Thanks

This is not a K2 bug...

There is of course the automated word limit for the introtext, but you need to enable this in the category parameters.

However, the right approach is to separate your text in "introtext" and "fulltext". To do that, you need to hit the "Read more" button at the bottom of your editor, when writing an article/item. This will tell K2 where to break your text essentially and use the top part for introtext and the bottom part for fulltext.

If you wanna make your life a lot easier, simply go to the K2 parameters, advanced tab and select to NOT have a unified editor box. This will switch all K2 item forms to 2 editing blocks, one for the introtext and one for the fulltext...

Hi Fortis and the Rest of the K2 Team.

I know this topic has been solved but it still proving problematic......please help
J1.7 & K2 2.5.1

I have multiple cats all sharing the params from one cat "news" .
I have highlighted multiple cats in the joomla menu item "news" and I have set the introtext to show and set a word limit in the corresponding cat.

This method just doesnt work!!!! (am I doing something wrong)

Reading your post you mention the correct way to do this is to use the read more or even better enable and use 2 editing blocks, which is fine on an article by article basis. However as I intend on uploading a large number of articles one after the other this method is non-productive and defeats the object of being able to set the intro text limit in cat params and sharing those params with other cats.

In desperation I tried the hacking core file /components/K2/module/item.php and removing && $ task=='catergory' (tut tut big frown)
which worked for the category items view (introtext limited to 130 words) but when you hit on the title to the item view the fulltext doesnt appear and neither does the introtext.

Please Help with a solution as having to add read more to each article is hell!

Thanks a bundle.
