Good component but crippled search? was created by Savoul Pelister
Finally after 2 days of search I am exhausted, I even spent a sleepless night to fix k2 search, but of no use.

used applications:
Joomla 1.7.2
K2 2.5

k2 has wonderful features but frustrating search function.

K2 search cant do the following

- search with tags
-search with categories.
-search with author names

but the irony is it filters them when tags, or authors are clicked.

after trying many components for building content I came to K2
K2 has wonderful features than many other components, but Search in K2 is a complete failure.

Developers may delete my post for this, but thats the reality..

the features that should be the core of K2 is missing. I expect better k2

First off, please don't use offensive titles.

You have 2 options to search K2 content. Either by using Joomla's search options or by using the K2 specific options in mod_k2_tools. You can search everything in K2 with these 2 options.

If you want to be able to search specific categories, you can do so with mod_k2_tools. Read the explanation in the tooltips.

To enable tag searching, see the K2 Search plugin params.

User searching is not available, as it's a complete overkill. If you want searching for that too, however, we got you covered. Just enable Google Ajax Searching in the K2 params.

Sorry for the title,

I dont want joomla search, I like k2 search as it displays search results with images of the respective article.

I am using mod_k2_tools, and k2 search plugin is set to yes. I have done all this gone through every parameter before posting here, but nothing happens

when I use a word that is given in the full text it displays the article.

I have 12 categories. if I give any category in search it displays nothing
I have tags for every article, when I use the same tag in search displays nothing. i get blank page

but when I click on the tag displayed below the article it filters the articles by that filter.
same for user name.

if you want to see for yourself, I am ready to provide you my admin details

I have spent 2 days on this forum and its of no use.

K2 is good, I say this after testing few CCK for Joomla.

Ok you may ask what I tried,

1. flexicontent - good but only for J1.5
2. Zoo - its dependent on widgetkit, couldnt get it work that much easier.
3. K2 - I was really impressed by the power.

but with such a powerful component, we should be able to flex and shape Joomla site the way we like, but its not possible.

the problems I faced with K2 - it should be the same case with everyone.

-Multiple Extra Fields for same category not possible.
-search in K2 is poor.

may be the developers are busy with K2 development and we are really grateful for this component, but what I suggest is K2 developers must have a idea pool and integrate those ideas in future releases. As I learned, the search problem is existing for many of the released K2 versions.

Now I am really stuck , and I dont know what I am going to try next.
