reprocess cache images? was created by William Kempton
Hi there,
running K2 2.5.4 on my site. I currently have about 50 articles with images. They are a bit too heavy, so I have to change the quality settings. The problem is it is not changing the articles images I already uploaded. Any good way to do this without having to re-upload all the images?
I tried deleting the cache files in hope of them re-processing, but it doesn't seem to help.
Any advice out there?

Hi,
Unfortunately there are no easy ways to re-process the images once they have been added to items. There used to be a large thread on the old forum that had some hacks to do this but I'm not sure that thread is still accessible (and it was for 2.4 so not sure if it would work anyways). The Joomlaworks crew is aware of this issue and I believe it's on their to do list for the future.
I'd suggest your download the media/k2/items/cache folder, batch recompress the images and then upload in place. Probably faster than tracking that code & implementing it.
Good luck.

Has there been any progress with implementing this type of feature, or a timeline of when we could expect it? I know that the Phoca Gallery extension has this kind of functionality... you can select as many or as few images as you wish and reprocess them to recreate the thumbnails. Anyone?

I'm interested in this too, as I'm now trying to sync K2 with an external database which includes images.
