I'm working with Joomla 1.7.3.

In the Menu Manager there is the popular mainmenu for Home. You can select "Menu Item Type" for the Menu. This can be a Joomla Article, or in the case of K2 there are a series of additional selections such as: Categories.

This is where I'm lost. How does selecting the Menu Item Type of a K2 Categories point it to run the category.php file which is located in templates/sometemplate/html/com_k2/default/category.php ?

Further more, when it runs category.php how does it know to pull in environment for K2ViewItemList? Where is that specified?

I need to know this because in developing K2 Content Module and also modifying categories.php I need access to different K2 environments and don't see how to do this.
