I'm really hoping someone might be able to answer as all my previous topics have gone unanswered??

When I set 'Read more..' to show on a category it seems as though every item has it showing even when there is no 'read more...' break in the article??

(I know you can set the into text length etc..) But I don;t want that. I just want to add a read more break on some long articles and ONLY show the 'read more...' link in the category listing for THOSE items not all the others that don;t have read more.

Hope that makes sense.

It is very confusing for visitors to see loads of read mores when there is nothing else to see??

YOu might try creating an override and edit category_item.php
Look for the block of code <?php if ($this->item->params->get('catItemReadMore')): ?>

and insert a test around or inside it to test if fulltext is empty or not
