how to show index page with categories ?
i am totally new .. and perhaps i couldn't show the index page properly
i selected user blog in the new menu item to create a menu..

You can select K2 categories for the menu item type and select one or more categories at the basic option settings.

Categories
Tag
User page (blog)
Latest items from (one or more) users or categories



Which of them should i select to be my index page similar to wordpress index page with categories

If all your items are in Categories, then you can choose Categories (either to display items from one category or more categories)

If you want to show latest items then choose the Latest items
