Hello,

I just encountered a extremely strange problem. I'm not sure if this is Joomla or K2, b ut it happens like this.

If I add image for subcategory, image gets attached to this subcategory, but for some reason it disappers from media manager (and from server, I checked via FTP), If I remove category image, it of course doesn't re-appear in media manager or server.

Why is this happening ?

Hello Again,

I read through his topic, but it seems that my problem is a bit different. My installation isn't located in subdirectory. And I don't get that error, my image files just disappear.

But In topic you mentioned, I found this getk2.org/community/New-to-K2-Ask-here-first!/8700-files-moving-magically

This seems something that may be happening in my case. I looked in directory media/k2/items/src and there seems to be a LOT of images there, Many duplicates as well. If images are moved they are also renamed too, since none of them have may original names.

The advanced setting "Change root attachement" folder is blank in my case, but I understand that only relates to "Attachement" not images ?

LOL
that one was mine...

I put in update in another thread and forgot that one. I fixed it by changing the default media manager location in Joomla to media (instead of images). That worked perfectly for me. If you have files being moved, I bet it will work for you too! Let us know how it work :)

Hope this helps!

I tried this solution,

But there is a bit of a problem with it.

this only works if location is media, if I'm using location media/k2/images (which is a must for my end user, so he doesn't upload images in wrong folder), I get "Local file doesn't exist" error upon image selection. Image is visible in manager, but when selected it constructs wrong path (for example if I'm using media/k2/images. this path would be constructed images/imagename.jpg )

Is there a workaround for this ?

Sorry for bumping again, but I still haven't solved this problem.

I changed path in Joomla media manager like this:

Path to files folder - media/k2/images
Path to images folder - media/k2/images

When I try to upload image in k2 item media manager find new path as it should

But when I insert image I get this path instead of "media/k2/images"

And when I try to save I get this error

I am not sure why K2 loves the MEDIA folder. It is obvious when you move outside of that folder, you get problems. If you need to restrict to one folder, make sure it is in the media folder (your joomla still appears to be in the images folder)...
