I must have hit HIDE on something.... the content of my items is not showing. Any idea where I could have selected to Hide all content??

If the title is showing but the content (intro or fulltext) look at the category settings
Is the category inheriting its setting from another category, if so check its settings
finally, look at the item and check its settings
there should be fulltext and intro text - hide and show
