All I can suggest is to use Firebug to see if there is any errors. what does the code look like after you save & what editor are you using TinyMCE ? you could also try to input the code directly into the item with phpMyAdmin least that way you can work out if it is the editor.

Peter, thank you for this advice. I'm not a coder so the action suggested is rather beyond my confidence and ability. You've given me some new avenues for learning though. :)
