Yes you can change words in the following files:

For en-GB language
Backend:
/administrator/language/ en-GB/en-GB.com_k2.ini

Frontend
/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_k2.ini

Propably you have to work in de-DE language sub directories e.g.
Backend:
/administrator/language/ de-DE/de-DE.com_k2.ini

Frontend
/language/de-DE/de-DE.com_k2.ini
