CB login. How to add items in frontend? was created by White Tiger
I'm sorry if this is another "frequent question", but I've not been able to find the answer.

in my J 2.5.4 I need to do login with CB (1.8 ) and then to insert the K2 items from frontend, not in backend.
With CB integration I've CB avatar in K2 and K2 item in CB, but these have been always written in backend.

In several forums I read someone says that to insert K2 items from frontend it is only need the CB Integration (option in K2), instead someone else says that it is mandatory K2 Login, but in this case I lose every CB functions.

I've noted also that with both CB and K2 login, when in the user menu I click over "Item edit form" (by K2) I get always a 404 null page. For add a K2 Item I always must use the link "Add Item" showed with a K2 login.

I need to know if is really possible to add K2 items after a CB Login or if I must renounce or CB or K2.
In this case with Jomsocial I'll have the same problem?

Thanks in advance

Hi. CB Login is a normal Joomla! user login so you should not have any issues with K2. You just need to ensure that the user belongs to a K2 group with the appropriate permissions for posting items.

Thanks for your reply, but I'm sorry, continue to don't understand.

With "K2 Login Module" I see 4 link under my avatar: Add new item, My page, My account, Moderate comments to my published items.

Only after login with "K2 Login Module" I 'm able to see these in frontend.
If I login with CB I'm not able to see these links and so I don't understand how to add new K2 items from frontend.

To do it, I have to publish both modules, CB Login Modules and K2 Login Modules.
In this manner, after the CB login, I can see in K2 login module the 4 links (but also two Login/Logout buttons)

Furthermore, if I click over the link "My page", then I see my CB profile, but if I click over "My account" then I see the K2 account con K2 fields and these are independent from the CB fields.

Where I wrong?

There is nothing wrong. Those links are provided by the K2 user/login module. If you do not use it you won't have them. If you use both of them you can try hiding some elements using template overrides or CSS.

In other words to add a new K2 Item it is mandatory to use the K2 Login Module, not to do login with this module.
If it is right, Ok, I thank you and I consider closed the thread.

No that's not true. You can always use the links to add K2 item. We just provide them in our modules to make it easy for the user. In other words since CB is claiming K2 integration should add those links to their module.

But I've not another links to add K2 items.

In the menu, under the K2 block I can create 6 type of menu item:
  1. Item
  2. Item edit form
  3. tag
  4. categories
  5. User Page (Blog)
  6. Latest Item from (one or more) users or categories

Hi ,

I had same issues, the K2 user posting "form" are not for usefull, it to confusing for common users, and you very havy to ajust for your needs.

What i did was using the j K2story, you can simply link to.

See the demo her

demo.joomlaextensions.co.in/index.php?option=com_jek2story

If you like and what to use it but you need som extra features plase tell me what, many we can in a join venture share some cost for development.

I think what Lefteris means is
Enable the k2 login or user
Copy the link that leads to add new item
disable it
modify the cb login to include the same link
and, if all is set up correctly, the k2 user groups, permission, and the logged in user has rights
the link should work

True!
I've inserted the link in the user menu and now it open a new windows of the browser, now also without K2 Login module enabled.
Only I don't understand because when close the window then I have a refresh of the previous page.
But this is a minor problem.
