I made some progress on the sh404sef installation and know what is causing the 500 error. It has to do with your editor and your ftp session. You can not use notepad, wordpad or most other editors to edit the sh404sef.class.php file. I finally used notepad++. First you set your ftp client transfer type to binary. Download the sh404sef.class.php to your desktop. Rename the original with backup extension in case things go wrong. Open the file on your desktop with notepad++, make the changes and then upload back. This will eliminate the error which is due to some garbage created in some editors.
Now for the fun. The sh404SEF extension that we now heard is no longer supported does not work. You can view my site at www.youth1.com and you will notice all url's for menu items have a /TAGS/ inserted at the end like this www.youth1.com/TAGS/ instead of displaying say www.youth1.com/Hockey.
I am using all menu items of the type K2 itemlist category. I am not sure what to do at this point because we can't even get support. When is K2 going to come out with a sh404SEF extension?

I have an error also as below:
DB function failed with error number 1064
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND published=1 AND trash=0 AND access<=0' at line 1 SQL=SELECT * FROM jos_k2_categories WHERE id= AND published=1 AND trash=0 AND access<=0
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/fastnets/public_html/ancoris/components/com_k2/sef_ext/com_k2.php on line 99
Any help appreciated

Native sh404SEF support
- K2 now fully supports sh404SEF natively.
- Includes 2 parameters to further extend sh404SEF's URL re-writing.

We have enabled both Search Engine Friendly URLs and Use Apache mod_rewrite within the Joomla configuration.
In k2 parameters, sh404SEF Settings (optional) is left unchanged.
The only real change is then to the .htaccess file

It is clear the sh404sef does not recognise K2 natively. The only way I can get proper titles and descriptions is by adding them manually, which is a pain. Am I to understand from this that I should not be using the sh404sef plugin because all the functionality is provided via K2 and I am wasting my time, or does sh404sef do things better in any areas?
Simon Wells (K2 Support) said:K2Joom, no longer uses sh404SEF as SEF is supported within K2. We have enabled both Search Engine Friendly URLs and Use Apache mod_rewrite within the Joomla configuration.
