How can i set up a blog for my site? And can i make them in the front end?

If you want to setup a user blog as the home page (all posts by that user) then click on the home item in the menu manager and change its item time to the K2 user blog type. - select the person you want to display and thats it. you can modify how this displays through the parameters in the K2 component.

I set up a blog page (not home page), and it shows the test entry correctly. But all my other non-blog items are also displayed on the blog page. How do I get rid of them? I only want my blog entries to be displayed.

You have to set up a different category for each user you want to have a blog. Then select the user when you set up the menu item.
In k2 paramaters, set front end editing to yes
Create a user group called bloggers or something like that
Set the permissions for the group like you want them
assign the users to that user group

This does not address certain issues like:

1.) Preventing bloggers from editing other bloggers content? (uncheck edit all items)
2.) Each user having a dedicated image folder?
3.) New users automatically get a blog on sign up?
4.) How do I edit the color of the Submit Comment button, mine is white on very light gray?
5.) Fix the Save and Cancel button in the frontend editor?
Please help with more detail?

@Garrett There are several ways to do many of the things you ask about.
1. bloggers belong to user groups with permissions see edit own items
3. K2 keeps up with its own images
3. new users get a page, you have to hook it to a blog and assigen them in to a group if you do not want to use 3rd party like jooblogs or jomsocial
4.send a link to the page with the submit button, sometimes on different installs with different templates inheritance has been overridden and may not be in the default place
