Ok, so I understand that categories in K2 are what define item types because each category will have its own template. The question is, how/where do we develop category templates for K2?

Hi ok i didn't tested whole process yet but possibly it would go as follows

1. make new folder in templates - my template - com_k2 etc ... More info about current template placing Here

2. copy all files from default K2 template folder (/components/com_k2/templates/default) in it

3. fire up editor and change custom template files accordingly

4. set actual category to custom template in category parameters

5. also there is a one more step needed for front page to change template - to set template in menu link properties Here

As i sad i got templates to show in template selection, and i quickly changed category template a bit while writing this (just inserting some characters around) and it works. so far so good :P

Where we can find a manual in order we can manage to create a template that can achieve what we want

Whe want to achive something like add some subtibles to ours main titles of the articles so we can manage to put the subtitle in a new extra field

there going to be something like

THE NEW SUBTITLE
The main title of the content
content
other things and plugins

Doesn't someone sell one of these that just has a structure like this:

<h1>THE NAME OF THE CATEGORY</H1>

Left justify category image

* list item 1

* list item 2

etc

 

The k2 tempaltes are difficult to work with IMHO and I"m a designer.
