How to turn off K2 Registration was created by Royce
Ok, I was happy using Alpharegistration as my registration option and a few days after updating to K2 stable noticed I'm getting spammed. Turns out K2 stable has over-ridden my Alpharegistration plugin for some strange reason.
How do I turn this K2 feature off? It is not suitable for release on websites without a captcha verification!

I am trying to use Jomsocial as my sole registration channel, but was receiving spam registrations that bypassed this process. I discovered that the core Joomla registration page (plus additional K2 fields) was still available via the direct URL:
www.mysite.com/index.php?option=com_user&task=register
I am trying this plugin ADJR - Disable Joomla Registration
Takes just a second to install and it appears to redirect core registration requests to the alternative registration page of your choice.

I don't know if you are looking for that, but in general options (the icon on the right) you can turn off front end registration.

I don't have any spam issues and I use the alpharegistration. I have K2 installed but the login module is not enabled.
So I assume you have the login modules for the systems you DON'T want to use for registration disabled. Choose either K2 or Joomla or alpaharegistration or whatever you have to use. Disable the ones you are not using.
And whichever login engine you're using, these days you must use a recaptcha of some sort, or it seems you will always be vulnerable to spam. It's not hard to incorporate, and built into alpharegistration, and a few other joomla extensions / plugins you can install from joomla extensions.
@royce : I wouldn't be running a website with login capability without recaptcha these days. That's asking for trouble really.
Don't know if that helps....

Go to K2 --> Controlls (Einstellungen) --> Scroll Down to "Expanded Controlls" --> Turn of "K2 Customerprofil"
